Ginger In Your Life of Well-Being
Reminders that Make A Difference
HASHTAG: #AMCoffee
Ginger root benefits go back into the centuries. Yet the plant keeps offering us the magic Mother Nature keeps in store for us in its flora world.
For me personally, ginger became an in-season thing when I was little. My mom would give us grated ginger root mixed with local honey for any flu, cold or throat infection. It became so natural for us, kids in the family, to take on that tradition with our own families.
Another very well-known and widely-spread usage of ginger among the major women population is taking ginger during pregnancy to reduce the side effects of nausea. As morning sickness can easily ruin the day, moms-to-be take ginger lozenges, tea and eat ginger-fortified foods to lessen the effects of nausea. Minerals and bioactive compounds in ginger calm down the overreactive stomach and allow to live a more productive and pleasant day.
The anti-nausea properties ginger offers are used in cancer patients to help them calm the side-effects of chemo therapy. Tea is said to be most effective to provide relief from nausea and deliver phyto compounds into the body.
Known for its stimulation of digestive juices and enzymes, ginger helps with food digestion. But for some people, ginger could actually cause heartburn. It is very individual indeed. What is known from centuries of its use, taking minute amounts of ginger and working up the amount gradually could create a safe and beneficial use of this root.
