Hot Peppers for Sweet Results
Reminders that Work for You
HASHTAG: #AMCoffee
Spicy food has been long touted as a great benefit for our overall health. Withe the obesity epidemic sweeping our country, people turn to the messaging that carries new-to-them information that would help them get rid of extra pounds and feel vibrant in body again. Peppers, both hot and sweet, have compounds in them that activate the cells in our brown fat. Capsaicin is the compound present in hot peppers. Capsinoids are the non-pungent compounds found in sweet peppers that appear to have metabolism-boosting effects without burning our mouths!
Brown fat is a good type of fat! This is the fat that keeps us warm. But once we activate its stubborn cells and they start burning, the body’s metabolism gets a healthy boost, and we do loose weight. There are studies that have shown how supplementation with capsaicins and capsinoids played a significant role in fat burning ability by the control group, while those who were on placebo actually gained weight.
In one study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, folks who supplemented with capsinoids for 12 weeks lost twice as much weight as study participants who were given a placebo. Even more, the group taking the capsinoids demonstrated increased fat burning over the course of the study, which is likely to explain how they lost over 500% MORE belly fat!
